
Kadri Koop is an Estonian cinematographer and director dividing her time between North America — Montréal, Toronto, Los Angeles, and New York — and Europe, between France and Estonia.
She holds an MFA in Documentary Film from Stanford University (2016) and an MFA in Cinematography from the American Film Institute (2020). Alongside working on films, she has lectured at Stanford, the San Francisco Art Institute, and UCLA.
Her short film Spaceship, distributed by Focus Features, earned nominations from the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC Heritage Award), the Student Emmys, and the Golden Tadpole at Camerimage, and went on to receive a Gotham Award. Her short work also includes The Appraisal, which received a 2026 Webby Award, and Smells Like Kids' Spirit, directed by Aude Pépin and produced by Topshot Films in partnership with France Télévisions, the Région Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, and the CNC, released in 2025.
In 2024, she was honored with the Angénieux Special Encouragement Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
On the documentary side, Kadri served as cinematographer on On The Line: The Richard Williams Story, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, and The House of Kardashian, a Peacock Original mini-series — both distributed internationally by Fremantle. Her narrative feature credits include A Place in the Field, acquired by Lionsgate.
Kadri's photography has been featured in publications including Elle and Vogue.
Kadri is an Associate Member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers.
