Washington College in Maryland invited me to talk about my journey to filmmaking and how it has been guided by my passion for foreign languages. It was a real pleasure to share my stories of studying English, Russian, Swedish, Dutch, Chinese and Spanish while trying to figure out how to go about my career in film. The room full of students and faculty had many interesting questions about the two films I shared, "I am Ayotzinapa" and "Charlie"as well as about my newest feature film that's currently in production.
Last February I had the opportunity to follow around a group of Carnival performers in a mountain town of Trinidad and Tobago. It's taken me a few months to figure out how to best edit the beauty I encountered there, but I'm excited for what I came up with in the end. Please check out the trailer below.
